Following the New Haven Documentary Film Festival screening of “Danny Says,” a new documentary about rock behind-the-scenester Danny Fields, Cafe Nine has put together a night of cover bands paying tribute to a few of the many acts Fields has managed or befriended in his long, diverse career.
The Hymans will mimic the Ramones. Jacques LeCocque will do songs by the Velvet Underground, and Dave Schneider of the Zambonis will lead “Dave Richman and the Modern Covers,” covering tunes by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers. The “Danny Says” screening is 8 p.m., Saturday, June 6, at Yale’s Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St., New Haven (nhdocs.com). Cafe Nine is at 250 State St., New Haven.
