“I had another nightmare,” a girl says at the start of Weezer’s new album. “Go back to sleep, honey,” her mother intones, “everything will be alright in the end.”

Her reply — also the album’s title — is a lie, nervous guitars and drums seem to suggest, while mumbling, disembodied voices confirm: “rock is dead… guitars are dead.” That might not sound like an enjoyable night on the town, but consider Weezer’s two-decade-long run of arena-worthy rock songs, from “Undone (The Sweater Song)” to “Buddy Holly” to “Beverly Hills” to “Hash Pipe.” Elsewhere, on “Eulogy for a Rock Band,” frontman/Connecticut native Rivers Cuomo sings, “Goodbye, heroes, you had a good run.” If rock is dead, Weezer’s throwing it a fittingly raucous wake.

WEEZER performs on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $55 to $75. Information: foxwoods.com.
