Few popular musicians are as closely linked with a belief system as reggae singer/rapper Matisyahu, who didn’t shed his Orthodox Jewish clothes when his 2005 album “Live At Stubb’s” caught the public’s ear (a single, “King Without a Crown,” was a Top 40 hit). Matis has since shaved his beard, and he wears what he wants, but the sound and message remain rooted in his faith; Matisyahu’s latest album, “Akeda,” mixes spirituality with reggae beats, hip-hop rhyme-schemes and anthemic rock choruses. Matisyahu brings his Dub Trio and guitarist Aaron Dugan to Ridgefield Playhouse on Dec. 28.

MATISYAHU performs on Sunday, Dec. 28 at Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $47.50. Information: ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
