When Joan Jett sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with the surviving members of Nirvana at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last April, it was perfect, in every sense but one: Jett herself — strange but true — hasn't been inducted.
The Runaways founder and rock icon, who topped the charts for seven weeks in 1981 with her cover of the Arrows' "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," probably doesn't have time to care; Jett released "Unvarnished," a new album with longtime cohorts the Blackhearts, in 2013 and spends much of her time producing and acting in films (look for the upcoming comedy "Undateable John").
Jett performs with the Blackhearts at the Norwalk Oyster Festival on Saturday, which runs Sept. 5 to 7 at Veteran's Memorial Park. Hours are Friday, 6 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Admission is $5 for kids under 12; $10 on Friday; $12 on Saturday and Sunday. Seniors get in for $10.
