Chris Thile is a versatile mandolinist who has played with Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek and was just tapped to become the new host of NPR’s “Prairie Home Companion” when Garrison Keillor retires next year.

Thile performs Bach violin compositions adapted for his preferred instrument, as well as some of his own original works, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the University of Connecticut’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, 2132 Hillside Road, Unit 3104, Storrs.
