Talk about musical DNA. Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto is the daughter of guitarist Joao Gilberto, a prime architect of bossa nova, and singer Miucha. Inventive samba singer Chico Buarque is her uncle. Stan Getz was a regular house guest when she was growing up.

She has soaked up the varieties of Brazilian music, taking inspiration from such Tropicalia artists as Caetano Veloso.

Gilberto has combined bossa nova and samba with elements of electronica and cocktail music. She sings with an alluring jazzy lilt and an understated but complex rhythmic phrasing. The mix is both drowsy and funky.

She plays the Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge Road, on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. $48. 203-438-5795 and ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
