The 4onthefloor, a blues/rock band out of Minneapolis, M.N., takes its name very seriously. It comes from “four on the floor,” a music term describing the steady beat popular in rock and disco. Each of the four members of the 4onthefloor plays a bass drum, which adds weight and depth to their already heavy, stompy, bluesy sound. All of their songs are written in 4/4 time, also called common time, in keeping with the theme.
