Two female filmmakers from Israel will come to Yale University on Thursday, Nov. 2, to show their films, which both focus on women in Israel and Palestine.

Tamar Kay will show her 32-minute short documentary “The Mute’s House.” The film tells the story of a building in the Jewish quarter of the West Bank city of Hebron that has been deserted by its Palestinian occupants, leaving behind only a deaf woman and her young son.

Or Sinai will present her 24-minute short feature film “Anna,” the story of a lonely woman searching her desert hometown for a friendly face. “Anna” won Best Student Film at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

The women’s brief New England tour with their films is sponsored by The Visiting Israeli Artists program, an initiative of the Israel Institute to enhance the study of modern Israel.

The Yale event will be at Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. in New Haven, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
