The Mandell Jewish Community Center hosts a screening of a documentary about how the ubiquity of technology affects the lives of young Americans.

“Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age” was directed by physician-filmmaker Delaney Ruston to examine social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Authors, psychologists and brain scientists are interviewed, giving their views on how tech time impacts kids’ development.

The screening is followed a panel discussion about the film with mental health professionals. Showtime is Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the center at 335 Bloomfield Ave. in West Hartford. Admission is free with advance reservations, which can be made at jfshartford.org/screenagers.
