The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, 600 Main St. in Hartford, begins a three-part series of holiday movies.

The “Holiday Cheer!” series begins Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. with “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” The 1987 comedy stars Steve Martin and John Candy as two mismatched men who wind up traveling together, in a rush to get home for Thanksgiving. Admission is free to the film, which is rated R.

On Dec. 1 at 8 p.m., the film is “Love Actually,” the 2003 British comic drama telling the stories of eight different couples. It stars Emma Thompson, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. It is rated R. Admission is free with admission to Festival of Trees and Traditions’ “Night of Illumination.”

The series ends on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. with “It Happened on Fifth Avenue,” a 1947 story of a homeless man who moves into a vacant mansion on Christmas. Admission is free. thewadsworth.org.
