This year is the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. In recognition of the landmark date, Globe on Screen is presenting three Shakespeare plays in cinemas nationwide.

“Measure for Measure” tells the story of the new ruler of a sexually immoral city, who begins to crack down on promiscuity and an innocent woman who tries to stop him. The play will be presented Sunday, Aug. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Cinestudio on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford.

Cinestudio also will show the two other productions presented by Globe on Screen this year: “The Merchant of Venice” on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. and “Richard II” on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. cinestudio.org.

Also in August, the San Francisco Ballet production of “Romeo & Juliet” will be shown Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. at Metro Movies 12 in Middletown and AMC Danbury 16. fathomevents.com.
