No new films are opening on Friday, May 20, at Real Art Ways, because the Hartford arts venue is getting ready for its big 40th birthday bash on Saturday, May 21. But from Monday to Thursday, May 23 to 26, RAW will show a documentary with a unique perspective on the subject of noise pollution.

“Sonic Sea” tells about military and industrial ships whose harsh, inescapable noises are killing marine species.

The hourlong film will be shown at 6 p.m. each day at the art space at 56 Arbor St. Each screening will be followed by a discussion. The speaker on Monday will be Cynde McInnis, director of Cetacean Society International. Marine life conservation activist Kate O’Connell will speak on Wednesday. The speakers on Tuesday and Thursday are to be determined. realartways.org.
