The new “Planet of the Apes” movie, “War for the Planet of the Apes,” is opening on Friday, July 14. Three local theaters want to rev up “Ape”-heads by showing a triple feature of “Ape” movies: the two first ones, followed by the new one, on Wednesday, July 12.

The theaters are Cinemark Buckland Hills, 99 Redstone Road in Manchester; Cinemark Enfield, inside the mall; and Cinemark North Haven, 550 Universal Drive.

“Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” the 2011 sci-fi adventure about a race if super-intelligent chimps who lead an uprising, will be shown at 4:30 p.m. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” its 2014 sequel, about humans fighting back after a killer virus epidemic, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. The new film, “War for the Planet of the Apes,” about a quest for military vengeance, will be shown at 9 p.m. The third movie will be shown in 3-D.

Admission is $25 for all three films. Those who attend the triple feature will get special discounts on drinks, popcorn hot dogs and candy at the concession stand. All of the films are rated PG-13. cinemark.com.
