“Newtown,” the documentary about the Sandy Hook School massacre on Dec. 14, 2012, and its aftermath, will be screened in cinemas nationwide one day only, on Nov. 2.

The 7 p.m. screenings will be followed by a live “town hall” panel discussion with audiences from around the country, which Fathom Events, the screening’s organizer, called “a dialogue around the issues of gun violence, collective trauma and community response.”

The panel will include Mark Barden, the father of Sandy Hook victim Daniel Barden, and school library clerk Mary Ann Jacob. It will be moderated by CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, the brother of the movie’s producer, Maria Cuomo Cole.

The film, shot over three years by director Kim Snyder, features commentary from several Newtown residents, including Gene Rosen, who lived near the school; teacher Abbey Clements; state police Sgt. William Cario; Barden and his wife Jackie; school janitor Rick Thorne; Msgr. Robert Weiss of St. Rose of Lima Church; Hugo Rojas, the father of a surviving child; emergency-room doctor William Begg; Nicole and Ian Hockley, the parents of victim Dylan Hockley; and David and Francine Wheeler, the parents of victim Ben Wheeler.

In Connecticut, “Newtown Live: A National Conversation” will be shown at Stonington 10 in Pawcatuck, Regal Brass Mill Stadium 12 in Waterbury, Branford 12 and AMC Danbury 16.
