‘Neon Bull,’ ‘Land And Shade’ At Wadsworth As Double Feature

The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art is overflowing with interesting films: a double feature of dramas from South America, and a classic Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers musical.

“Neon Bull” is the first half of the double feature. The Brazilian film tells of a traveling rodeo whose employees have little in common except their jobs, but who bond over their hard work and their dreams. It is in Portuguese with subtitles. It will be shown Thursday and Saturday, July 14 and 16, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, July 17, at 2 p.m.

The second half of the double feature is “Land and Shade,” a Colombian story about a man who returns home to his village after many years and re-bonds with his son and grandson. It is in Spanish with subtitles. It will be shown Thursday and Saturday at 8:40 p.m. and Sunday at 3:40 p.m.

On Friday night, the “Summer Sizzle Under the Stars” series continues with “The Gay Divorcee,” a 1934 Astaire-Rogers romantic comedy about a woman who pulls a trick to get a divorce. It will be shown at 8:15 p.m. outdoors in Gengras Court. Live music and dinner service begins at 5 p.m.
