From 2010 to 2012, democratic uprising swept through the Muslim world, in a movement known as the “Arab Spring.” On Saturday, Feb. 6, Ridgefield Playhouse will show a documentary by a filmmaker who witnessed the aftermath of this phenomenon. She will be there for a post-screening Q&A.

In “Witness Bahrain,” Jen Marlowe chronicles the Bahrain government’s repression of pro-democracy protesters. She interviews doctors arrested and tortured for treating protestors and nurses caring for injured youth at underground clinics, and discusses children who were killed or arrested by riot police and an activist who was arrested for tweeting. After surreptitiously shooting footage for the movie, Marlowe was deported.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at the performance space at 80 East Ridge Road. In addition to answering questions from the audience, Marlowe will speak with one of the film’s subjects, Nabeel Rajab, president and co-founder, Bahrain Center for Human Rights. Admission is $10, $7.50 senior, $5 student. ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
