Cinestudio, at 300 Summit St. on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford, shows a new 4K restoration of one of the most beloved movies made by the legendary team of producer Ismail Merchant and director James Ivory.

“Howard’s End” tells the story of the clash of three families: the upper-crust Wilcoxes, whose kind-hearted matriarch dies and leaves a will they try to subvert; the Schlegel sisters, a free-spirited middle-class duo whose spunk and brains charm some of the Wilcoxes and irritate some others; and the Basts, a struggling couple caught in the cycle of poverty.

The 1992 film, which won Oscars for actress Emma Thompson, its art direction and Ruth Prawer Jhabvala’s adaptation of E.M. Forster’s novel, will be shown Friday to Thursday, Aug. 26 to 31. It is rated PG.

Also this week, Cinestudio will show “The Merchant of Venice,” the Shakespeare drama which stars Jonathan Pryce as Shylock. The Globe on Screen presentation will be shown Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. cinestudio.org.
