The Humanity Helping Sudan Project aims to help people in developing countries overcome poverty, hunger and disease. Connecticut residents interested in the organization’s mission can help it raise money by attending a movie screening Thursday, April 2, in Bridgeport.

The movie is “The Good Lie,” a 2014 drama starring Reese Witherspoon as an employment counselor assigned to help three men in Kansas City who are among the “Lost Boys of Sudan.”

The screening, at 6 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre, 275 Fairfield Ave., will be attended by Ger Duany, a star of the movie and an alumnus of the University of Bridgeport, who spent his early life as a forced child soldier in Sudan and then one of the Lost Boys. He will do a Q&A after the movie. Admission is $20. Details: thebijoutheatre.com.
