A Cuba Gooding Jr. movie about slavery, which was filmed at the Medad Stone Tavern in Guilford and St. John’s Episcopal Church in North Guilford, will be shown Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 20, at 2 pm. at Guilford Free Library, 67 Park St.

“Freedom” tells the story of a man and his family escaping slavery in Virginia and making their way north with help from the Underground Railroad. A parallel story tells about that man’s grandfather, brought to America from Africa on a slave ship.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10:30 a.m., the Guilford Keeping Society will host a discussion at the Medad Stone Tavern, 197 Three Mile Course. The film’s location manager will be present. Admission is free but attendees must register at guilfordfreelibrary.org, by calling 203 453-8282 or in person at the library reference desk.
