Actor Frank Whaley Screening His Film ‘Joe The King’ In Ridgefield

Actor Frank Whaley, who is a resident of Redding, will bring one of the films he directed to the Prospector Theater, 25 Prospect St. in Ridgefield, on Sunday, May 22, and do a Q&A after.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit the theater program at John Read Middle School in Redding.

The movie is “Joe the King.” The 1999 drama tells the story of a nice but neglected 14-year-old boy who slips into a life of crime. Whaley said in an interview last year that he likes stories about “the loneliness that accompanies childhood.”

“Joe the King” stars Camryn Manheim, Ethan Hawke, Kate Mara, Val Kilmer and John Leguizamo. It is rated R.

As an actor, Whaley is best known for “Pulp Fiction,” “Field of Dreams” and “Swimming with Sharks.” Showtime is 6 p.m. Admission is $25. prospectortheater.org.
