NT Live, the London-based series of live simulcasts of stage plays, opens a new production this week: Euripides’ legendary tragedy “Medea.”

Helen McCrory plays the title role of a woman who exiled herself from her homeland to be a supportive wife and mother. Then her husband tells her to leave, because he wants to marry a beautiful young princess. So Medea takes terrible revenge.

The production will be shown at Cinestudio, 300 Summit St., on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford, live on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m., and recorded on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m. The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St. in Old Saybrook, will show it on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. The Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University, 1073 North Benson Road in Fairfield, will show two encores on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
