The lovely Bijou Theatre in Bridgeport, which closed several months ago, is open again under new management and this week will show two films about popular music.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, “Searching for Sugar Man” will be shown at 7 p.m. The Oscar-winning 2012 documentary follows the mystery of Rodriguez, who was a phenomenon in Detroit in the 1970s and bombed out of the business but became a star in South Africa. On Saturday, Sept. 23, the film is “Sidemen: Long Road to Glory,” a 2016 documentary about Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and Hubert Sumlin, sidemen for Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf. Showtime is 8 p.m. The director, Scott Rosenbaum, will be present. Admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
