Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford celebrates its fifth annual Italian Film Weekend on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, April 21, 23 and 24. Five movies with a theme of “La Famiglia” will be shown, and the museum will reprise its popular “Big Night” dinner.

The opening-night film, “Se Dio Vuole” (“God Willing”), is a comedy from 2015 about an atheist, a priest and a dysfunctional family. It will be shown Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. A reception sponsored by Peppercorn’s Grill will precede the film at 6 p.m.

On Saturday at 2 p.m., the matinee is “Rocco e i Suoi Fratelli” (“Rocco and His Brothers”), a drama from 1960 directed by Luchino Visconti about a man and four brothers. Pizza from Vito’s by the Park will be served before the film, which is three hours long.

At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, the movie is “Big Night,” the Stanley Tucci 1996 drama about two brothers trying to save their restaurant. It will be followed by a “Big Night” dinner in the museum cafe at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 12:45 p.m., the movie is “L’Italia in un Giorno” (“Italy in a Day),” a 2014 compilation of videos made by typical Italians of their daily lives. It will be preceded by a free family-themed tour of three Italian paintings, which begins at noon at the gift shop.

The series closes with “Il Nome Del Figlio” (“An Italian Name”), a drama about a family torn apart by the announcement of a baby son’s name, on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Admission to each film is $9, $8 seniors and students, $7 members, free to Insider Access members. Admission to the “Big Night” film and meal together is $45, $44 seniors and students, $43 members, $40 Insider Access. Reservations are required for the dinner.
