Wadsworth Hosts Japanese Film ‘Tampopo,’ Followed By Dinner

The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art’s “Food & Film” series, which pairs food-themed movies with meals, continues on March 25 with a screening of “Tampopo” followed by a Japanese feast.

“Tampopo” is the 1985 comedy about a trucker who takes it upon himself to help a fledgling noodle shop achieve its culinary potential.

The movie will be shown at 3:30 p.m. It will be followed by a meal at 6 p.m. in the museum cafe. The menu is steamed edamame with sea salt, sushi and mahi rolls served with ponzu, pickled ginger, ginger soy and wasabi paste, shrimp and vegetable tempura with sesame-soy dipping sauce, a mixed green salad with sesame-ginger dressing, agedashi tofu-fried tofu with daikon radish, soy and mirin, tonkotsu ramen-roasted pork belly, broth, scallions and bean sprouts, followed up by a dessert of green tea ice cream. Sake is complimentary.

Admission to just the film is $9, $8 seniors and students, $7 members, free to Insider Access members and above. Admission to the movie and meal is $60, $55 members. Reservations are suggested: thewadsworth.org. The Atheneum is at 600 Main St. in Hartford.
