Alex, like many people, doesn’t “get” modern art. But then he meets Penelope, an artist. To win her heart, he must learn fast to not just understand art but to create some himself. This is the premise of the romantic comedy “Art Ache.”

The British indie will be shown in the perfect location — at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art — on Thursday and Saturday, Aug. 11 and 13, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. Admission is $9, $8 seniors and students, $7 members, free to Insider Access members and above.

Also, continuing the “Summer Sizzle Under the Stars” outdoor movie series on Friday, Aug. 12, is “Holiday,” the 1938 comedy starring Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, about a man with unusual ideas about how to kick off his marriage. It will be shown at 8:15 p.m. outdoors in Gengras Court. Live music and dinner service begins at 5 p.m. Admission to that film is $9, $8 seniors and students, $5 members, free to Hartford residents.
