Brandy Burre, a guest artist at Connecticut Repertory Theatre at UConn in Storrs, starred in a documentary last year about herself. “Actress” tells the story of Burre’s attempt to re-establish herself as an actress after a long hiatus to raise children.

That film will be shown on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. at the von der Mehden Recital Hall on the university campus. Burre will do a Q&A after the movie. Burre’s most prominent role was 15 episodes of HBO’s “The Wire,” on which she played Theresa D’Agostino. She became the subject of the film after moving to Beacon, N.Y., with her partner to start a family. A documentary filmmaker, Robert Greene, moved in next door. The two became friends and Greene decided to make a film about Burre.

At UConn, Burre is working on “The Laramie Project,” directed by CRT’s artistic director, Vincent J. Cardinal. Admission to the screening is $10, $5 for students, cash only at the door. CRT subscribers will be admitted for free. crt.uconn.edu.
