Oscar nominee Chazz Palminteri has signed on to star in an NBC comedy pilot from the team behind NBC's "Ed."
The untitled pilot comes from Rob Burnett and Jon Beckerman, who co-created and executive produced "Ed." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series focuses on a young man whose low-key life gets a jolt when his long-lost father (Palminteri) decides he wants to re-enter his life.
With the exception of guest-starring stints on shows including "Wiseguy" and "Hill Street Blues" early in his career, this would be Palminteri's first extended foray into scripted television. The actor earned his Oscar nomination for Woody Allen's "Bullets Over Broadway," and his other credits include "The Usual Suspects," "Hurlyburly" and "A Night at the Roxbury."
A sometime writer-director, Palminteri helmed a 1999 episode of "Oz," and his feature directing debut, "Noel," premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will be in theaters soon.--zap2it.comCopyright © 2015, CT Now
