2013 Traffic Fatalities

Christian McKenzie Hills, 27, of Randolph, N.J., and formerly of Butler County in western Pennsylvania, died a weather-related accident on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County, about 1 p.m. Jan. 28, 2013. According to an obituary on Legacy.com, Hills was employed coaching elite-level gymnasts at Northstars Gymnastics Academy in Boonton, N.J. Previously, she was a gymnastics coach and judge in Butler County. The accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-80, about a half-mile west of Route 115. Hills apparently lost control of her car on the slushy roadway before careening into the rear of the tractor-trailer. The truck driver flipped the rig onto its side trying to avoid the collision, state police said.
