Eighth Street Bridge Construction

PennDot continues their $18.5 million dollar rehabilitation of Allentown's Alburtus Meyers Bridge on Thursday afternoon. Southbound traffic is blocked off for the next two years. Vehicle traffic will be limited to a single northbound (into center city) traffic lane as workers replace the bridge deck, repair the support piers, construct new alcoves and roadway approaches, and install new lighting, curb and sidewalk, pedestrian fencing, and road markings and signs. The bridge will be open to pedestrians throughout construction.
