Kick off the weekend with Happy Hour and Tapas at Kutztown’s Blair Vineyards, a one-time annual event that now takes place 5:30-8:30 p.m. every Friday in summer. Sit on the scenic covered patio and indulge in a changing weekly menu of small plates, which always includes a vegetarian dish and dessert, prepared by Divine Dining of Easton.
Offerings on Friday include: House Cured Bacon, Tomato and Sharp Cheddar Grilled Cheese with Romesco ($14; vegetarian version, $12), Crab Cake with Black Rice, Red Pepper Aioli and Micro Greens ($16), Cauliflower Soup with White Truffle Oil ($8), Venison Confit with Twice Fried Potato Skin and Blue Cheese Aioli ($14), and Oatmeal and Guava Bars with Chocolate Espresso Cream ($7).
Pair dishes with wine by the glass ($6-7) or bottle. Regular tastings are not available during the event, but guests can sample a wine or two before ordering. Manager Missy Blair says Three Sisters is a crowd-pleasing medium-body red that blends pinot noir, merlot and cabernet franc grapes. “And riesling is popular in warm weather. It’s bright and refreshing.”
Blair Vineyards is at 99 Dietrich Valley Road. Info: 610-683-8463, www.blairvineyards.com. Check the website menus; reservations are not required.
