Don't we all need to regroup, slow down and "connect" once in awhile?

Two licensed clinical social workers from Connecticut, Barbara Murray-Lane and Terri Theriault, are hosting "The Circle of Connection", a retreat for women at the Mercy Center in Madison on Saturday, November 2nd from 10am to 4pm.

"The purpose of it is to bring women together to carve out some sacred time...to help them deepen their understanding of what 'connection' means to their lives," explains Murray-Lane, whose practice is based in Chester and Middletown.  "The idea is to open up some new pathways to more authentic connections."

She believes our busy lives can become overwhelming, causing us to experience sadness, anxiety and addictive behavior.  But, when we have "resources", we can find a way to manage the stress and put things into perspective.  Murray-Lane teaches us how to "connect" with other women, the spritual world and ourselves:  "If you're more connected to yourself, you can get through your day in a more grounded way."

At the retreat, the social workers will lead group discussions and guided imagery workshops.  Participants will also spend quiet time in nature, taking meditative walks and writing in journals.
