I just finished reading Jeannette Walls' "The Silver Star," which, like her "Glass Castle" memoir, reminds us that we're not such bad parents after all.
Just when you think you're the worst parent ever because you called your 9-year-old a rotten little brat, remind yourself that you could have abandoned your children, leading them to travel across the country alone to find someone who'd be willing to taken them in. Have you done anything like that lately? Me neither. We're all doing just fine.
