Sixteen Sweet Years

Over the past 16 years I’ve learned how to install a car seat like a pro and how to conduct a phone interview while making pancakes and keeping three preschoolers quiet.

I’ve learned every word to every song in “The Wizard of Oz” and loads of interesting facts about jumping spiders.

I’ve learned to pick my battles, to be at peace with having a child taller than me, and that teenagers will always know more about computers than their parents.

Sixteen years ago today I became a parent. My once-little dude has taught me a lot about patience and responsibility and love.

Next up: Learning to keep calm in the passenger seat. Yikes.

It’s been quite the ride. Happy 16th birthday, kiddo.
