You know about Snapchat? Poke? That other one?
An enthusiastic college student explained the “self-destructing text” phenomenon to a group of us old people at a Christmas party last week. Teenagers love to tell us about things we don’t understand.
If you’re like me and you’re constantly reminded of how little you know about anything, you might not know about Snapchat, which means you might not know if your teenager is using it.
Essentially, the app allows you to share, for example, a picture of your naked butt. The photo (or video) which is sent to selected recipients, disappears after a predetermined number of seconds.
Sounds lovely, doesn’t it? Used primarily by teens, the app is not foolproof, since users can take screenshots or even a photo using another camera. Please stand by while I have a conversation about this with my 13-year-old son …
… All done. I told him not to do it. No good can come of sending pictures of one's naked butt. Your turn.
