Did you see this op-ed that ran in the New York Times earlier this month?
Mark Wolfe, a 40-something art dealer from San Francisco, became a "card-carrying medical cannabis patient" due to issues with anxiety, insomnia and back pain.
He writes: After two years of treatment, I can state unequivocally that I feel much better about pretty much everything. Sure, my back still hurts, but I’m cool with it.
In fact, he says his penchant for pot has made him a better, more patient parent.
Is this a joke? Perhaps. Come on...some of his verbiage smacks of a smirk. For example, he calls his new fathering technique the Parental Attention Surplus Syndrome and says his brownie-based treatment helps him create quite a show with finger puppets. He says he has turned to marijuana because of job-induced, kid-induced stress. For most of us, that's LIFE. Something we need to navigate while sober.
Serious or not, Wolfe's piece naturally caused a flurry on the internet and The New York Times received many scathing letters, such as these, from angry moms and dads.
Frankly, I think it is just plain silly. And, if Wolfe was looking for attention, he succeeded.
What are your thoughts?
