Not Embracing the Paperless World

For years I was one of those parents who complained about the ridiculous amount of paper being wasted on fliers sent home from school. I’d often receive three copies of the same announcement -- one in each child’s “Friday Folder.”

Our school district became a trendsetter a few years ago when it began releasing a “Virtual Friday Folder.” Brilliant! No paper!

Except now I’m one of those parents who regularly fails to click through to read the announcements. Maybe it’s because I get my emails on my phone and I can’t actually read the small type, so I put it off until I’m in front of an actual computer, and then I promptly forget about it. If you’re over 40 you know what I’m talking about.

It’s bitten me in the butt again. I learned yesterday that not only is my high schooler about to enjoy a four-day weekend, my middle guy has early dismissal for the next three days.

The early dismissal days, by the way, are for the parents who actually read the emails, and signed up electronically for parent-teacher conferences. We missed the cut-off by a few hours, so we’re just hoping that his nice teachers will let us know if he’s not doing well.
Correspondence using actual paper would be appreciated.
