GoldieBlox: Engineering for Girls

GoldieBlox: Engineering for Girls (Philip Harvey / GoldieBlox / January 14, 2014)

Heard a report about GoldieBlox on CBS radio and became intrigued.

Inspired by the fact that only 11% of the world's engineers are women, founder and Rhode Island native Debbie Sterling set-out to "get girls building".  This Stanford grad is committed to using her California-based business to dispel the old-fashioned notion that construction sets are "boy toys" and hopes to motivate a new generation of female engineers.

(Interesting aside, the company is involved in a copyright controversy with the Beastie Boys, thanks to a parody of the song "Girls" which went viral.)
