Everybody Does It (at least once)

A decade or so ago I admitted to a friend that I'd left the kids in the car a few times, and I didn't think it was so bad. I'd done it in places where I could still see the car, which was locked: Dropping an older kid off at karate, for example, while the babies snoozed. My friend then told me she didn't feel comfortable leaving her baby in the car when she drove right up to the public library return slot, even though the front bumper of her car would be about five feet away.

So am I a terrible parent?

Here is yet another story in the news of Parents Behaving Badly: This guy thought it was OK to go drink at a strip club with his child in the car. Thank goodness for people like him, and the woman who left her two kids in the car to shoplift at Gap Kids in South Windsor. They make the rest of us look good.
