Everybody Does It (at least once)
A decade or so ago I admitted to a friend that I'd left the kids in the car a few times, and I didn't think it was so bad. I'd done it in places where I could still see the car, which was locked: Dropping an older kid off at karate, for example, while the babies snoozed. My friend then told me she didn't feel comfortable leaving her baby in the car when she drove right up to the public library return slot, even though the front bumper of her car would be about five feet away.
