Censorship Vs. Safety

Remember the olden days (10 to 15 years ago) when everyone made a big deal about ensuring that the family computer was in a public part of the house?

Oh, yeah. The Husband even built a special computer desk in the family room so I could monitor what the kids were seeing and where they were going on the internet. (I'm not sure I ever really did. Bad mommy.)

Tablets and smartphones and laptops have pretty much put an end to much of our monitoring. For those of us with teenagers, the lack of control coincided with the availability of this portable technology.
