That’s what my kiddoes get for summer vacation this year, thanks to a late end (today!) and an early start (a full week before Labor Day.)
They’ve got plans to spend all 59 of those days doing amazing, relaxing, exhilarating, rejuvenating things. They’ve got a few weeks of overnight camp, a couple of vacations, time spent away with cousins and with friends. We’re packing quite a lot into those 59 days.
But we’re also looking forward to those few precious days when nothing is planned. Like pretty much every day of my own summer vacations as a kid, those lazy summer days are just as cherished as the jam-packed ones. Coffee in bed with a couple of dogs while one kid teaches another how to make pancakes? Perfect. A blank spot on the calendar? Even better.Enjoy the ride. Even when it’s slow.
