Cathy Grantham is a former Washington County Public Schools teacher and has lived in Washington County for more than 30 years.
Since November, she has been chairwoman of Friends of the Washington County Free Library. She said she has learned a lot about the library and how it functions.
Annapolis to talk with some of our delegates and senators during Maryland Library Day on Feb. 13," Grantham said in an email.
She praised volunteers and library staff who work hard to make WCFL a lively part of the community.
Grantham said she loves working with the Friends organization. She also likes to cook.
"My mother used to make this recipe for me when I was growing up," she said. "When I left home, I continued to make this, because it's easy and inexpensive. Now my daughter makes it for her family and it has become a family staple."

1/2 cup chopped onion, optional
1 cup mushrooms, optional
1 can of mushroom soup (see cook's note)
Salt and pepper
1 cup sour cream, optiona
Brown hamburger. Drain fat. Add onions and mushrooms, if using, and simmer with hamburger until tender.
Add mushroom soup to cooking hamburger and stir. Add a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Add water to thin, to taste.
Gently stir in sour cream and stir for a richer taste.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
Cook's notes: Grantham substitutes country sausage for hamburger, which her granddaughter loves. If making without mushroom soup, keep fat and add 1 or 2 tablespoons flour to thicken, then add water to thin sauce until creamy.
