June was the warmest on record, extending months of record-setting heat. This year has had the warmest average temperature for January-June on record -- 57.5 F, according to the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORGOV0000102" title="National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration" href="/topic/weather/scientific-research/national-oceanic-atmospheric-administration-ORGOV0000102.topic">National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration</a> (NOAA).
