Joan Jett and the Blackhearts got the crowd in motion and country star Clay Walker, diagnosed with MS in 1996, closed the show with a shout-out to Davis, calling her his hero. The gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel was Walker's first time at the annual benefit for the Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis. "It won't be my last," he said.
Just hours before the royal wedding, the local British community held its own celebration: BritWeek's gala dinner at L.A. Live, honoring Tim Leiweke, chief executive of the sports and entertainment giant AEG Worldwide, which built — among other venues — Staples Center.
