Ellen Warren was a Tribune senior correspondent and columnist who wrote about shopping and style. She has been a foreign and war correspondent, covered the White House and Chicago City Hall and launched the Tribune’s first political blog. Warren, a member of the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame, was the first female legman for the late columnist Mike Royko. She is a runner and a competitive stitcher who has won blue ribbons for her needlepoint projects at state fairs in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. She and her husband, Wade Nelson, have two adult sons and two adult dogs.
