You can warm up a bathroom or drafty bedroom that's just too chilly on a winter morning by installing a ceramic flat-panel unit plugged into a nearby electric outlet. A handyman will install the heater for $199, but you can do it yourself for $110. (December 5, 2012) |
A handyman will install the heater for $199, which includes the unit and installation, but you can do it yourself for $110, the cost of the heater. The installation is straightforward. For the best results, mount the heater about 6 inches above the floor molding and install with a 3/4-inch gap between the wall and the unit. You will need a carpenter's level, drill and screwdriver. To assure that the unit will be level, use the holes in the heater or its packing material as a template to mark the position for the four mounting holes. Install the fasteners to secure it to the wall and plug it in.
