The Dave Matthews Band is less than thrilled with unscrupulous tapers who sell bootleg CDs of their concerts. The band, which allows taping for personal use, has even set up an area on its Web site where true DMB fans can blow the whistle on people who sell the contraband CDs, which are often outrageously priced and of poor quality.
Taping will be allowed at tonight’s sold-out concert at the Meadows Music Theatre. Bela Fleck & the Flecktones open the show at 7. The Meadows is at 61 Savitt Way, off Weston Street in Hartford. Information: (860) 548-7370.
A hijacked cruise ship rips through the waves, heading straight toward an oil tanker.
It could happen, especially to Sandra Bullock’s character Annie Porter in “Speed 2: Cruise Control.” In this sequel to Bullock’s 1994 wild ride on a bus with Keanu Reeves, Porter and her new boyfriend, Alex Shaw (Jason Patric), take what they hoped would be a relaxing cruise to the Caribbean.
Instead, John Geiger, an insane computer programmer played by Willem Dafoe, takes over the ship and sets a course for disaster. Annie discovers her latest love is an member of L.A.’s swat team, instead of the Venice Beach traffic cop he said he was.
This white-knuckle adventure hits theaters Friday.
