One of the picks was New Orleans' first-round selection in 1979, and the Lakers used it to take <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PEHST001031" title="Magic Johnson" href="/topic/sports/basketball/magic-johnson-PEHST001031.topic">Magic Johnson</a> No. 1 overall after New Orleans had the worst record in 1978-79.
