OVERRATED: ‘Hanna’ (2011)

What's most frustrating about this noisy action film in hip indie clothing, the story of a genetically modified 16-year-old super-spy, is how close it comes to being as clever as it thinks it is. Irish actress Saoirse Ronan nails the vacant look of a girl who was raised only to kill, but director Joe Wright seems fresh from the Guy Ritchie school of camera hyperactivity, and the ham-fisted flashes of camp further dilute what could’ve been an affecting story.
