In college, he led the nation in rushing in 1970 and 1971 while playing football for <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="OREDU000066" title="Cornell University" href="/topic/education/colleges-universities/cornell-university-OREDU000066.topic">Cornell University</a> and as a pro he played for <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100102900000000" title="Minnesota" href="/topic/us/minnesota-PLGEO100102900000000.topic">Minnesota</a>, Seattle and the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100800000000" title="New York" href="/topic/us/new-york-PLGEO100100800000000.topic">New York</a> Jets.
